![]() One of them includes a girl talking in a creepy font with a distorted background, in which eventually she gets blacked-out eyes and a blacked-out mouth and cries blood, snaps her neck, and runs up to the screen. Jump scares - There are a few jump scares in this game. The first, a schoolgirl with depression hangs herself in her room, and the second, another schoolgirl goes insane and stabs herself to death out of excitement after confessing to her crush. It scared the shit out of me, but you probably already knew based on the PG-13 rating.ĭeath - There are two visual deaths in this game, both suicide. If I had children I'd definitely play this with them if they were at least at the mental age of 14-15. So I recommend you be at least 13+ or to be pretty mature to play this and to know what you're getting into. The game doesn't really bring up anything sexual besides a girl pointing out another had big breasts and one girl says she may or may not have touched herself with your pen. I think you can really learn a lot from this game, It just shouldn't be the *first* place you hear about these topics. Also, the representation of depression, social anxiety, and everything is great too. It eventually leaves you confused and shocked especially since you have to use Monika's tactics against her in the end, Although it is a great experience if you are a fan of horror and can handle the topics. I think personally the shock and chills the game gives you is the best part, how "hidden" files drop into the game for you to see and Monika's messages/rants in the files are really cool. It's a great game but it depends on how sensitive you are towards certain topics (Suicide, Self Harm, Abuse, Obsession, Insanity etc.) At first glance, it seems to be a cutesy dating sim but it slowly turns into a psychological horror game. I believe Doki-Doki Litterature Club is by far one of the best video game/visual novels out there. ![]() Just remember you should never end your life and harm yourself, if you're in this state of mind, I think you could play DDLC safely. well I have mild depression AND am easily shocked but it didn't stop me from enjoying the game, and at the contrary, helpped me realize the importance of life even more. It says that if you have depression or are easily disturbed, you shouldn't play this game. It contains violence, particularly when a character stabs themselves, and we can see lot of blood, I don't think the violence exceeds 14 ys + but the thing is it could be very scary and put you into a very dark mood. The use of f**k and b**ch is not very often, like it's used 4 or 5 times. It can have some bad language and some sexual references, one of them is particularly weird, which is that a character says that they touch themselves with a pen MC gave them. DDLC has very dark topics, such as self-harm, suicide, obsession, etc. It is the first horror game I tried, and I probably shouldn't have. It does search your files and find your real name so they can put it in the credits. Amazing game, I love this game cause I relate to all of the characters so much. I would not suggest this for 9 year olds (even though I started playing when I was 9). ![]() Sometimes people can't fully understand emotions well enough, so they think its "scary" or "disturbing". When I play this game it does give me a weird feeling but thats just me understanding the emotions happening. My parents have said multiple times that I should not play this game. I've also experienced symptoms of depression, and I'm just fine. I have extreme anxiety, but I wont get into that to far. I've noticed that other reviews have said stuff like "Dont play if you have depression or anxiety". ![]() I just finished playing DDLC for the second time. Listen, its currently around 1 AM for me right now.
